Do's and Don'ts in the Use of Purple Lipstick
Purple lipstick may seem like a big joke to some ladies, but to those women who are more creative and adventurous, it is actually a fun possibility. Of course, everyone has their own preferences and limitations however, wearing a lipstick with a purple shade is not as crazy as most would think it would be.
There are hundreds of purple lipsticks to choose from. Among the most favored brands are Urban Decay, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Guerlain, Manic Panic, Maybelline, Revlon and MAC. These certain brands offer a variety of lipsticks in any and every shade of purple. If you prefer a light shade of purple then you could go for the lilac shades. If you prefer something with more color then you can go for purple lipstick blended with shades of pink or red. Or, if you want to go gothic, you can go for the darkest shade of purple and turn into a rockabilly.
However, going into a store and picking up the first purple lipstick that you set your sights on is not the way to go. You have to take your skin color into consideration. You also have to consider where you are going to use the lipstick. Let’s say you want to prep up for a wedding, buying the darkest shade of purple is not entirely appropriate. A plum or raspberry shade would be more befitting but that would also depend on the color of your gown. Now, if you have pale skin, you have to avoid pale and light shades. This will just drain the color from your face and make you look ghastly. However, you must not go for the darkest shade either, unless you are a vampire wannabe. Second, if you have a more tanned shade or maybe even olive skin, the shade of purple that would suit you best is purple tinged with shades of red, pink or orange. And lastly, if you have a darker shade of skin, the darker shades of purple will suit you best. Dark skin tones do not blend well with lilac shades either. So, the best thing that you would have to do before trying is to try the lipstick first before buying. Try the shade of lipstick in a not so well lighted area so that you would know how it looks when you get out from the well-lighted store you’re in.
Purple lipstick may seem a little tricky if you do not know when, where and how to use it. So, I have compiled a few tips for you. The first tip is to choose the shade that you are going to use. You have to match the occasion with the shade you’re using. If you are attending a formal occasion, stay away from the darkest shades of purple. If you are going to a casual occasion, plum and raspberry shades are alright. Next tip, choose the type of lipstick that you are going to use. Are you going to use a matte lipstick or a long-lasting shine lipstick? Well, long-lasting would be perfect for long formal events. Choose matte lipstick for casual events. And the last tip is to apply a natural shade of lip liner to form your lips and to keep the lipstick from bleeding.
Purple lipstick is perfect for a lot of occasions. Now that you know how to choose, purchase and use it, go out there with that rocking lipstick and let their jaws drop open. After all, it takes a brave woman to choose a shade so mysterious and rebellious that people would not help but to fall in love with the sight of you.
